Computer Vision Specialist
As a Computer Vision Specialist at Equitech, you will lead the research, development, and deployment of vision-based AI models. You will work on diverse applications, which may include analyzing geospatial/satellite imagery for environmental impact, processing documentation for financial inclusion, or building accessible visual tools. A core focus of this role will be addressing the historical challenges of demographic and data bias in computer vision to ensure our models perform equitably across all populations.
Key Responsibilities
Model Development: Design, train, and fine-tune state-of-the-art computer vision models for tasks such as object detection, image segmentation, classification, and facial/pattern recognition.
Ethical AI & Bias Mitigation: Actively research and implement techniques to identify and mitigate demographic, lighting, and dataset biases in visual models, ensuring high accuracy and fairness across diverse groups.
Data Curation & Augmentation: Oversee the collection, curation, and synthetic generation/augmentation of visual datasets to ensure robust training data.
Production Deployment: Optimize vision models for production environments, focusing on reducing latency and footprint for cloud or edge computing deployment.
Collaboration: Partner with Data Engineers to build scalable image/video processing pipelines and work alongside Software Engineers to integrate vision capabilities into our core applications.
Technical Leadership: Stay at the forefront of CV research (e.g., Vision Transformers, multimodal models) and champion technical best practices within the team.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field with a focus on Computer Vision (or equivalent practical experience).
3+ years of professional experience developing and deploying computer vision models in production.
Deep expertise in Python and primary deep learning frameworks, specifically PyTorch or TensorFlow.
Extensive hands-on experience with CV libraries such as OpenCV, Scikit-Image, and Albumentations.
Proven experience with advanced CV architectures (e.g., YOLO, ResNet, UNet, Vision Transformers (ViTs)).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with multimodal models (e.g., CLIP, Llava) or integrating vision with Large Language Models.
Prior experience addressing algorithmic fairness, demographic bias, or explainability (XAI) in computer vision systems.
Experience with edge deployment and optimization tools like TensorRT, ONNX, or OpenVINO.
Experience processing geospatial, satellite, or medical imagery.
